Welcome to "Please Feed Me", a website dedicated to the rehabilitation and refeeding of horses suffering from advanced starvation. All information on this site has been gathered over a period of 10 years of animal rescue experience, primarily with equine patients. Please understand that the information offered is only through personal experience. Every case of starvation is different and unique in its own way, The reasons why an animal deteriorates into such a horrific and complicated condition is complex. If the animal still has the ability to digest food and has not advanced into organ failure there is hope. The road to recovery is time consuming, exhausting and at times heartbreaking. The reason for this website is to give the support needed to fight for a life. You must always ask for the assistance of a trusted veterinarian in times where you have any question regarding recovery and understand there are many ways of refeeding a starving horse. There are times when professional animal caregivers should be involved such as a large animal hospital. Often a newly rescued horse can remaine in their new home and do just fine under the care of their new owners. I hope this information helps you to decide step by step what you should do... |
